The Renewing Marriage Project is an intentional intervention into the Christian discussion to
create a culture of celebratory affirmation of gay people and their relationships: Thereby,
increasingly making Christianity an ally in the struggle for social and legal equality for gay people.
Our strategy is to assist moderate Christians in moving from the rhetoric of mere tolerance for gay
people to a full throttled Christian celebration of gay people and their relationships. By doing so,
we subtlety shift the “Christian Middle” of the conversation. We make this shift happen by declaring
the positive ways the gay experience reveals and reflects the Christian tradition’s conception of
God.
